Actually, the title slug has nothing to do with this post, but we've been waiting to use it for eons. So we did.
If we had a little time for further reflection, we could probably draft up some grandiose extrapolation about literature and reading and raising dough for kids who need books. In fact, it's likely we could fill this whole page with the importance of taking great care to make sure that we did everything we could here at Ides HQ to raise every nickel possible for Book Wagon, like begging.
But we don't. Because a very specific part of our computer system, the important part, has been sputtering all morning. Just now, if we squint, we can see smoke rising from the recesses of our back up drive, the drive we spent $$$ bank on so that we could safely protect our valuable and somewhat self-important stores of information.
Plus, beggars can't be choosers, as the old saw cuts. And we ARE choosers. We're choosing great books to read, books to compete against other great books in a scandalously loosely regulated competion, in the name of raising some charitable contributions.
We hope you'll choose with us, to support Book Wagon and giving books to kids. Plus, we've got all the great titles in this year's competition to give away to our supporting cast.
And the trombone, don't forget. We think we'll save the trombone to award to the individual who correctly identifies all the metaphors and pearls of wisdom we slaughter here on this very page over the course of the tournament. If you choose to compete there, you've got your work cut out for you.
